I loved the movie Godfather, in fact all the parts of the damn movie – loved the line – “says when he turned up dead, I said to myself, this is the business we've chosen, I didn’t ask who gave the order cause it has nothing to do with business!!” And so and so forth, well its not my fault the mob always interests me – nothing beats sadistic pleasures and being orally correct at the same time – so hence, The Sopranos is one killer show in my books.
Created by a guy called David Chase who is noted for his multifaceted, symbolism-heavy style of writing, the Sopranos has been around for some time now in fact it is in its sixth season now and it still enthralls like nobody’s business. Set and produced in New Jersey, the show revolves around mobster Tony Soprano and the difficulties he faces as he tries to balance the often conflicting requirements of his home life and the criminal organization he heads.
A major commercial and critical success, the Sopranos is the most financially successful cable series in the history of television and has frequently been described by critics as one of the greatest television series of all time. It has also won numerous awards, including twenty-one Emmys and five Golden Globes.
The Sopranos has been the subject of much parody and analysis and has spawned books, a video game, high-charting soundtrack albums, a large amount of assorted merchandise and a deeper love for the mafia.
A must watch, this show takes the mafia to another level.
