Brought up on classic rock, fell into good ole outlawed substance abuse and listened to “the devil’s music” – that’s been the story, well my teenage years were that and considering that That 70’s Show was always on my top of the list of my favorite shows. Set in the era of Led Zeppelin 8-tracks, Tab cola and Farrah Fawcett posters – Fuck that was – no correction that is something I still drool over - THAT ‘70s SHOW always seemed to send me back to the "Me Decade." Now in its eighth season, this show still keeps me glued to that couch and keeps me up to date with my favorite diet, what the average man would call poison for your body – Pizza and beers!!!
The show revolves around a decade full of political events and technological milestones that have dramatically shaped today's world, all the while tackling significant social issues of the 70’s, on the lines of feminism, progressive sexual attitudes, the economic hardships of recession, mistrust in the American government among blue-collar workers, political figures such as Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter, teenage drug use, and developments in entertainment technology, from the television remote to the video game Pong… A journey into the hippie years of our parents – It makes you think – were our parents like this – I know all of three friends who have confessed to have had parents like this – I’m the fourth!!!
The characters in this show are fitted to match; with Forman being played by Topher Grace, Donna played by Laura Prepon, Hyde by Danny Masterson, Kelso by the ever popular Ashton Kutcher and the dark haired “Blonde” Jackie played by Mila Kunis and then of course how can you miss out on the ever so dumb – I’m Mexican – Fez played by Wilmer Valderamma. In its eighth season now, this show still has the same fun in it that there was in the very first episode way back in August, 23rd way back in 1998.
The eighth season continues the signature elements that have made the series a hit, including the surreal dream sequences, the 360-degree basement scenes and the classic '70s score. The retro series has featured numerous '70s icons since its premiere, including Gloria Gaynor, Shirley Jones, Danny Bonaduce, Charo, Alice Cooper, Marion Ross, Eve Plumb, Ted Nugent, Howard Hesseman, Valerie Harper and Roger Daltrey. Additionally, stars such as Luke Wilson, Lindsay Lohan, Jack Osbourne, Brooke Shields, Seth Green, Jessica Simpson and Shannon Elizabeth have also made guest appearances.
Last but not least, what gives That 70’s Show its finishing touches is the fact that several prominent songs from the decade can be heard on the series, and two soundtracks were released in 1999 - the first is a collection of funk, soul and disco, while the second is a collection of Album oriented rock (AOR) songs.
Okay!!! Time to split – That 70’s show time!!!
