Angela Bassett signs ER's next season Review
Movie star joins hospital drama for final season; Britney returns to HIMYM, Duff denies 90210.

The list of movie stars moving to television is one name longer today, as Angela Bassett has signed on to join the cast of ER next season as a series regular, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Bassett, who was nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in 1993's What's Love Got to Do With It, will play a doctor who returns to Chicago after spending time doing tsunami relief work in Indonesia.

Also returning to the cast is Noah Wyle, who will guest star in a handful of episodes. Wyle will reprise his role of Dr. John Carter, who he played on the show through 2006.

The rumored Britney Spears return to CBS' How I Met Your Mother is now fact, says TVGuide.com. Spears will once again play Abby in an episode scheduled to air during May sweeps. In the show, Abby and Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) try to get a rise out of Ted (Josh Radnor) by flaunting their new relationship.

Speaking of rumors, one that won't prove true is Hilary Duff joining the cast of the new Beverly Hills, 90210 currently in the works at the CW. Duff was offered a lead role in the show, but she tells Us Magazine that she turned down the job.

While neo-90210 didn't land the big prize in Duff, it did manage to fill in a few holes in its cast. Lori Loughlin, of Full House fame, will play Celia Mills, the token mom on the show. Also cast in the teen sudser was Degrassi: The Next Generation's Shenae Grimes, who will play the part Duff turned down.

Finally, made-for-TV movie disaster-fest Impact has assigned the actors that will be running from the negative impacts of a rogue dwarf star. Natasha Henstridge (Eli Stone), James Cromwell (Babe, 24), and David James Elliot (JAG) have all been cast in the $14-million project, says Variety. The drama follows what happens when the moon gets knocked out of its orbit, causing all sorts of nasty things--tsunamis, earthquakes, etc.--to occur on Earth.
