For starters, he is the teenager who brought ABC’s wildly popular comedy-drama series’ fictional gay character to life on the small screen. At just 13-year old, Ugly Betty’s Mark Indelicato is not your average television series kid. After nailing the character of Justin Suarez, Betty’s pint-sized happy and gay, fashion-loving, showtune singing nephew, Mark is breaking grounds through his flamboyant performance.
Earlier seen in T.V series “Suite Life of Zack & Cody,” “Chappelle’s Show” and “Hack,” this child actor of Puerto Rican and Italian ancestry, made a big leap into the limelight with his role of Justin. However, his role as a teenager “who knows exactly how a belt can accessorize a Valentino gown and who can sing and tap a la Gene Kelly for Halloween” raised several eyebrows on Justin’s sexuality and since then he has been blamed for teaching kids to be a gay. It’s believed that Mark will be soon starring in a new Hollywood movie “Illegal Superman” which is about the American Dream as seen through the eyes of two Mexican boys.
Trained at the Actors Center in Philadelphia, Mark takes vocal lessons at Dupree School of Music in Linwood, N.J. and hopes to continue his professional career in acting and singing. The actor bedazzled the fans of the show when he sang the opening number “Good Morning Baltimore” to the audience of the subway in one of the episodes. In real life, there is this sweet innocence that shines through this self-assured teenager. He is not afraid to be himself, even if it means not fitting in and that confidence radiates on screen. The young actor recently attended the GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) Annual Media Awards and won a special place in the hearts of gay community for his positive portrayal of a gay character.
